Fodor's Review

Peter Yealand has a vision as big as his vineyards. Sustainability is an absolute priority, and he has offset all greenhouse gas emissions from day one and is internationally recognized for his achievements. Sauvignon Blanc is the star but the winery also does great things with Pinot Gris, Riesling, Viognier, and Pinot Noir grapes. Yealands has free tastings of all their wines, including their noted Estate range, while audiovisual displays and interactive monitors will enhance your tasting experience. Visitors are also welcome to drive themselves around the vineyard on the "White Road" to see the natural mussel shell and grape waste compost and the baby doll sheep (non-fossil-fuel grass mowers). The drive also encompasses stunning views, from steep coastal cliffs to the snowcapped Kaikoura Mountains.
