Fodor's Expert Review Slip Inn
Down at the marina, and overlooking the main boat ramp and working port area, this is a sunny spot to stop for a coffee, light lunch, or dinner. The café is smart and contemporary, with local art on the walls and a large deck overlooking the water. The menu is themed around local produce, and it's no surprise that mussels and salmon sourced from Havelock and the Marlborough sounds take up lots of tempting menu space. However, there's more on offer here: all-day breakfasts, antipasto, and a comprehensive dinner selection. Signature dishes include mussel chowder, beer-battered fish-and-chips, a seafood platter to share, and sirloin steak with grilled prawns. An extensive wine list features Marlborough wines. The coffee is also very good.
