Fodor's Review

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

If roses are your thing then Greagh Garden is a must. The first settlers eager to farm the rich volcanic land around Whangarei found their efforts thwarted by an abundance of rock in the soil. To make use of the stuff they dug up, they built miles of walls, and these gardens cover some four acres. Gardens also contain a range of perennials, mature trees, and camellias. Greagh is the Celtic name for "land among the stone."
