Bora Bora Lagoon Resort & Spa

Bora Bora, Leeward Islands, French Polynesia

Fodor’s Expert Review

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

This resort is a winner in the location sense. Situated on the northern tip of Motu Toopua, it has wonderful view of Mt. Otemanu on one side and a deserted islet on the other. On the island's southern end is Hiro's Bells—a group of 300-foot-high (91-meter) basalt rocks that resonate like a bell when struck. Accommodation is a mixture of overwater, beachside, and garden bungalows, and a handful have private plunge pools. The most secluded and sought-after accommodations are the six "end of pontoon overwater bungalows" with magnificent mountain views from the bedroom. One- and two-bedroom villas have indoor-outdoor garden showers and the bathroom walls are a mosaic fashioned from shells and volcanic stones. The resort's Maru Spa is the only treetop spa in Polynesia, with treatment rooms hidden between two banyan trees.
