Bus Travel

Three bus companies–-Sunbeam, Pacific Transport, and Intercity–-run between Lautoka via Nadi to Suva , a journey of around 4½ hours for the nearly 200-km trip. One company, Sunbeam, also runs services along the northern route of the King's Highway. Local buses will stop on request while express buses stop at towns and the biggest resorts, but these will often stop on request, as well. Timetables are available at each town's bus station. Bus stations are invariably located beside the open-air municipal market in or near the center of town: Nadi's is five blocks west of Main Street along Hospital Road; Lautoka's is in the heart of the city at 7 Yasawa Street; in Pacific Harbour, the buses stop along Queens Road and in the small town of Navua south of the bridge along the water; Suva's is a short walk north of the city center on Rodwell Road. Coral Sun makes pickups by arrangement and does not stop at bus stations.

Sunbeam operates air-conditioned express service seven times a day between Suva and Lautoka via Nadi (along the Queen's Highway), starting at 3:15 am from Lautoka, for about F$18; the first bus leaves Lautoka at 3:15 am and the last bus departs both Suva and Lautoka at 3:15 pm. They also operate about 10 services a day along the northern route (Kings Highway) stopping at every major town.

Pacific Transport runs air-conditioned express services eight times daily between Suva and Lautoka via Nadi (Queens Highway) for about F$18. The first departs Suva at 6:45 am and Lautoka at 6:30 am.

Inter City runs four express services daily each way over the Kings Highway northern route. The last departs both Suva and Lautoka at 6:45 pm. Fares range from F$2.25 to F$14.35.
