Boat and Ferry Travel

Numerous vehicular ferries service Fraser Island from Rainbow Beach and Hervey Bay. Manta Ray Fraser Island Barges runs a regular service from 6 am to 5:30 pm between Inskip Point, near Rainbow Beach, and Hook Point at the island's southern end. The company's two to three barges make up to 40 round-trips daily, so if you miss one barge, the next will be along soon. Buy tickets online (recommended) or as you board.

Fraser Island Barges' Fraser Venture makes the half-hour trip between River Heads, 20 minutes' drive south of Hervey Bay, and Wanggoolba Creek, opposite Eurong Bay Resort on the island's west coast, three times a day. The Kingfisher Bay Passenger and Vehicle Ferry also connects River Heads with Kingfisher Bay Resort in 50 minutes up to six times a day.
