Fodor's Review

Named after its previous life as an actual gun shop, this trendy West End café is the place to go for breakfast and brunch on weekends (the potato-feta hash cakes with spinach, house-dried tomato, and herbed sour cream are locally famous). Unfinished brick walls where guns once hung help create a rustic ambience and set the stage for flavorsome Merlo coffee, freshly squeezed juices, and spicy chai tea with honey from the café's own rooftop bees. Dine around wooden tables near the open kitchen or request a seat out on the sidewalk to people watch. A select but eclectic Mod Oz menu fuses Mediterranean and Asian flavors in dishes like Margaret River lamb, Angus beef, duck, and seafood. Vegetarian dishes and exciting salads, with produce sourced daily from local markets, are also available. Foodies flock here for lunch, dinner, or even just a coffee and dessert; the flourless chocolate fudge cake is particularly unforgettable.
