Fodor's Expert Review Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel

The Rocks Historic District/Site

While in the west end of Argyle Place, consider the liquid temptations of the Lord Nelson, which with at least one other contender claims to be Sydney's oldest hotel. (It has been licensed to serve alcohol since 1841.) The sandstone pub has its own brewery on the premises. One of its specialties is Quayle Ale, named after the former U.S. vice president, who "sank a schooner" (drank a beer) here during his 1989 visit to Australia, or try Nelson's Blood (for those who like Irish stouts).
