Planning Your Time
Exploring this region of Vietnam could occupy you for months, but for those with less time to spare, allocate a few days to Nha Trang—a visit to VinPearl Land takes a full day, as does an island tour or an excursion to one of the beautiful beaches outside of town. A beach break in Mui Ne or Quy Nhon should take several days, in order to wind down properly and enjoy the sun and the sand. The major sights of Dalat can be taken in over a couple of days, but do take into account the long distance between the airport and the town if flying in and out. The Central Highlands need more time, especially if planning to travel by road (or Easy Rider) between Lak Lake, Buon Ma Thuot, Pleiku, and Kon Tum. The back roads in this area are much more interesting and scenic than the main road, but take more time to traverse. Allow at least two days in Cat Tien National Park—one day to get there and settle in and another day to explore the park.
