Fodor's Review

The northern end of Sao Beach is what Phu Quoc is all about: crystal clear water and fine white sand. Make sure you take the third, northernmost entry to the beach—the first two entrances are where the tour buses go, so the beach gets crowded and noisy with Jet Skis buzzing about. To the north of all this activity, you'll find Paradiso Beach Club, which has free showers, food and drinks, and a massage service upstairs. Be warned, though, the prices are extremely high, even for Phu Quoc (100,000d for motorbike parking, which is a maximum of 5,000d in Ho Chi Minh City). During peak season (November to March), the onshore wind blows in some garbage from the fishing vessels, and during this time, the bar staff keep the northern section of the beach much cleaner than the southern stretch. Amenities: food and drink; showers. Best for: snorkeling; sunrise; swimming; walking.
