Doy Din Dang Pottery

Head out 12 km (7.4 mi) north of the city center to the serene, Japanese-influenced ceramics studio of Chiang Rai native Somluk Pantibooner to browse the lovely traditional and contemporary stoneware bowls, cups, teapots, vases, and original art pieces. The studio was established in 1991 and there's a café and small exhibition space. Want a closer look at northern Thailand's burgeoning art scene beyond all those cups, bowls, and plates? Stop at the Art Bridge gallery that Pantiboon co-founded on the way back into town.

Mengrai Antique

Near the bridge, this place has a good reputation for selling religious items and rare antiques.
