Fodor's Expert Review Sara Jane's

How surprising to find a hole-in-the-wall Isan restaurant inside a fancy office tower across from the U.S. Embassy. Then again, Sara Jane's appears full of surprises. Name aside, this small restaurant is all about spicy and extremely tasty Isan cooking. Savory grilled chicken, a dozen different types of som tam papaya salad variations, spicy sup nor mai bamboo salad, and the tangy moo manao (pork in lime) are staples among regulars. For some bizarre reason, there is also Italian food on the menu here, but best to stick to the Isan delicacies. As it is across from the embassy and in a busy office tower, the restaurant is packed at lunch, but often deserted after 7. Slightly hard to find, Sara Jane's hides in the far left rear of the ground floor of the Sinhorn Building.
