Fodor's Expert Review Home Kitchen
A true hole-in-the-wall where friends gather to celebrate the simple act of enjoying meals together, this restaurant turns out well-made local cuisine. Thai classics everyone should try at least once on a Bangkok trip excel here, among them tom yum goong (hot-and-sour soup with giant river prawns), redolent of lemongrass, Kaffir lime leaves, and galangal; the delicately crispy oyster omelet; the crispy catfish salad with green mango; and the fried whole fish in chili-and-lime sauce. A larger air-conditioned section of the restaurant operates just down the street.
