Why We Like It
Young, sexy, and cool, the W does everything it can to make sure its guests are well fed, liquored up, and primed for flirting. The spa is a delight and the pool relaxing. Wholly unique, The House on Sathorn is a historic landmark that now hosts restaurants, bars, and afternoon tea. Ideally located, it’s easy to get around the city via Skytrain or simply walk to incredible bars, restaurants, and shopping. Perfect for a millennial crowd, The W is a can’t miss hotspot for Bangkok fun.

Fun, hip, sleek, and chic, the W is one of the sexiest additions to the Bangkok skyline. The hotel caters to a young and creative crowd with constant entertainment and delectable dining. All in all, like most W properties, the hotel’s aim is for you to have fun, maybe flirt a little, and find your own party inside and out when you stay.

Room
The hotel is heavy on Muay Thai themes, and this can be seen in the bedrooms through art on the walls and the golden gloves splayed out on the beds. Rooms have stunning views the higher you get, and all come with tablets that control room functions and room service, free bottled water, and turndown service.
Tip If you want to bring Fido with you to Bangkok, you won’t find many hotels that allow dogs. The W has a P.A.W. or Pets Are Welcome program but it comes with a fairly sizable fee.
Bathroom
The bathrooms are adorned with gray-tiled floors and black subway-tiled walls. There’s a huge, brightly-lit vanity mirror as well as separate showers and tubs. Bliss products are standard at all W hotels.
Lobby
Boxing themes permeate the lobby, as does the color purple. You’d think Prince (RIP) designed the hotel as deep violet hits you from every corner. The lobby is a bustling part of the hotel, due in part to the bar and ample communal seating.
Pool
As with other W properties, the oval pool is dubbed Wet. It's surrounded by shaded loungers and a fascinating art installation that’s sort of in the shape of a whale. Unlike other W’s, there isn’t a big pool party scene here and it’s only open to guests.
Tip Every Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the hotel hosts a fabulous sunset-inspired Yoga by the Pool session.
Spa
The sexy Away Spa has six treatment rooms for all indulgent needs plus a Style Lab for hair, makeup, and nails. The locker rooms have steam and sauna facilities, and there’s a co-ed hammam for some pre- or post-massage commingling.
Gym
Open 24/7, FIT Gym is decked out with TechnoGym equipment, free weights, a heavy bag, and more. Instructors are always on site to help out and the gym offers complimentary water, refreshments, and even headphones.
Dining
There are a lot of different dining options in the hotel like The Kitchen Table--a modern bistro with international fare or The Pantry – a quick grab and go spot. The true highlight, however, is in The House on Sathorn. Walk outside the hotel and you’ll discover a refurbished colonial mansion built in 1889 that’s now home to three different restaurants, including The Dining Room that’s always on the top 50 of Asia list and serves modern Turkish cuisine.
Tip The House on Sathorn has a lovely courtyard with a great afternoon tea service. Don’t miss out on exploring this historic gem.
Drinking
Woo Bar in the lobby of the main hotel is open all day and has DJs every night. There’s a happy hour from Monday to Friday at 5-7pm. Inside the House of Sathorn is The Bar, a refined drinking den with signature sips and colonial classics.

Getting Around
The Chong Nonsi Skytrain station is next to the hotel and makes life very easy for zipping around the city. You can walk to a bunch of stuff around here, including Lumphini Park, Taksin Pier, and any number of great bars, restaurants, and shopping. Catching a cab is easy on Sathorn, but be prepared to sit in traffic.
Restaurants
There are so many options nearby, but right next door is the Mahanakhon Cube (2-minute walk), where inside is a bevy of Michelin level restaurants like L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon for French, Morimoto for Japanese, or Dean & Deluca for chic café dining. Another one-of-a-kind spot is Nahm (15-minute walk), a Thai restaurant in the COMO Metropolitan that’s rated as one of the 50-best in Asia every year.
Bars
For legendary views and killer cocktails, head to the Banyan Tree hotel and zip up to the roof for Vertigo & Moon Bar (15-minute walk), an aptly named rooftop spot with a chic crowd. If you’re in the mood to dance, right next door to the hotel is CÉ LA VI Bangkok (2-minute walk), a high-end nightclub that’s open late.
