It’s not often that we write about airport hotels, but sometimes exceptions need to be made. This would be one of those times. Conveniently located on the airport grounds, and connected to the city via train, this massive airport accommodation is an ideal layover spot with multiple dining and drinking outlets, a large resort pool, a well-appointed spa, and lots of goodies for kids.
The hotel itself is attached to the airport and rail line through an underground walkway. But if you want to get to the terminal without any hassle, just hop on the hotel’s shuttle bus that leaves every 10 minutes.
Spacious rooms have soft carpeting, work desks, Thai art on the walls, and many include nice views of the pool. Due to its proximity to the airport, guests will rejoice at the soundproofing the hotel employed to block out the planes. Each room is equipped with free water, Illy espresso makers, and free fruit and chocolates.
One of the nice perks of the hotel is the 24 Hours Flexi program. You can check in and out within any 24-hour period while paying for a single night rate. It’s ideal for insanely late or early flights
Modern bathrooms have separate tubs, tiled showers, and raised sinks. There’s a window in the bedroom, but you can close the blinds if you don’t want anyone seeing in.
The jaw-dropping atrium lobby looks and feels like an airport hangar as it covers 2,800 square meters and is five floors high. A half dozen restaurants and bars are located on either side of the vast space, as is comfy lounge furniture and a few boutiques and shops for any last-minute present buying.
The family-friendly outdoor resort pool is flanked by lush foliage and is a peaceful spot for relaxation between flights. There’s a swim-up bar and a full menu for food and drinks.
Vous Spa is definitely worth a visit. There are seven treatment rooms and every service imaginable is on the menu. For killing jet lag on the way in--opt for a traditional Thai massage. For easing aches and pains on the way out--check out their signature massage services.
In Balance Fitness is the fully equipped gym with both Cybex and Life Fitness machines, oodles of free weights, and even a ping-pong table. There’s a large locker room with steam and sauna facilities in addition to hot and cold plunge pools.
The hotel offers daily complimentary classes. Every day of the week is different and options include Thai boxing, yoga, circuit training, and others.
There are so many dining options it would be hard to choose. Pick between Japanese, Chinese, Thai, international, or French. Every Sunday there’s a brunch and if you have a really early flight, the breakfast buffet opens at 3 a.m.
Kids under 16 can get breakfast for free.
Again, you’re probably not going anywhere if you’re staying here, but the train can get you into the main parts of the city in under half an hour. There are taxis coming and going at all hours, so if you do want to explore the surrounding area, it’s easy.
We’d recommend eating inside the hotel or taking the train all the way into the city for something better.
We’d recommend drinking at the hotel lounge or pool. You can take the train into the city if you feel the need for something more substantial.
WHY WE LIKE IT
Airport hotels typically feel like way stations, but this particular incarnation makes guests feel more at home whether they’re at the beginning or end of their journeys. Inside, there are great restaurants to choose from and a super early breakfast for morning flight times. The bar is always crowded and has decent live music and the spa is the perfect reprieve for jet lag or relaxation before long journeys. Service here is not an afterthought and the hotel knows how to cater to travelers at all hours of the day.
