Avani Riverside Bangkok Hotel
257 Charoennakorn Rd., Bangkok, 10600, Thailand
Why We Like It
Chic, sleek, modern, and cool, the Avani Riverside is a decidedly adult hotel that caters to a creative clientele who like their bars high, their food in small bites, and their design minimalistic. The hotel screams contemporary everywhere you look and the service is first-rate without being in your face. Though it’s far from the city, the rooftop bar has made it a destination for locals, ex-pats, and tourists, and you’ll find yourself hobnobbing with a cool crowd throughout the week.
The much hipper younger sister of next door Anantara Riverside, the Avani focuses more on style then on catering to families. Chic, modern design elements can be found throughout that helps attract a creative crowd of millennials looking for some sleek entertainment. Like its sister Anantara, the hotel is pretty far south and away from major attractions, but the hotel stands on its own as a cool customer that’s become a destination for locals and tourists.
room
Every contemporary room here faces the river and has wide windows to help you soak in the views. Zig-zag carpeting and light wood are standard, as is free bottled water, tea, and coffee.
bathroom
Wide open bathrooms are simply part of the bedroom-- and certainly not for the shy. Raised sinks, standalone tubs, and walk-in showers are also standard and Avani uses its own brand of products.
lobby
The lobby is sleek and minimalist, bathed in light wood and with leather chairs and tables all facing the floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the river. Connected to the lobby is the Riverside Plaza Shopping Mall that has three levels of retail and restaurants.
pool
The infinity pool has endless views of the city and is surrounded by an enormous wooden deck with modern design loungers. There’s also a bar for light snacks and great drinks.
spa
Avani Spa is small, but still packs a big punch. Here you can find a variety of signature treatments with unique massages and facials. There are only two treatment rooms, so reserve in advance.
gym
A decent-sized gym has Life Fitness machines hardwood floors and free weights. The hotel offers private training sessions in addition to yoga classes by the pool.
dining
There are a number of good eats at the hotel like Skyline for all-day international dining or the Pantry a grab-and-go spot that actually operates on the honor system (don’t steal). You’ll also find small bites at the rooftop bar, Attitude.
If you want to explore the city while you eat, book a dinner cruise on the Manohra, an old wooden rice barge that's now a romantic dining boat.
drinking
You can post up at the lobby bar for craft cocktails, but the real drinking destination is on the roof at Attitude. Here you’ll find lush, red leather couches, hardwood floors inside and out, and views for days. It’s a solid date spot and there's live music and DJs throughout the week.

LOCATION
Getting Around
There’s not a whole lot to walk to around here, so getting anywhere requires taking a 10-15-minute boat ride to the Taksin Pier where you can catch a BTS Skytrain, water taxi, or just walk around the city. If you rent a car, traffic will be your enemy.
Restaurants
Attached to the hotel is the Riverside Plaza Shopping Mall (2-minute walk) where you’ll find everything from Burger King and Dairy Queen to a pizza joint and sushi. If you cross the river to Asiatique The Riverfront Bazaar (4-minute boat), you’ll find dozens of food stalls, cafes, and restaurants serving every type of cuisine.
