The Shilla Seoul
2-102 Jangchung-dong 2-ga, Seoul, Seoul, South Korea
Fodor’s Expert Review
Established in 1979, The Shilla Seoul has built its reputation from a time when there were few high-end hotels in the city. Now it contains a luxury spa by French cosmetic brand Guertain as well as all the trappings of a true four star hotel. Although some rooms have scenic views of Mt. Namsan, the location is less than ideal for sightseeing, although most tourist areas are just a short cab ride away. The hotel sets itself apart from other luxury brands by incorporating Korean design into the lobby and rooms, with each room being slightly different from the next.
PROS
- rooms have a somewhat more Korean feel than other luxury hotels
- excellent spa
CONS
- not as centrally located as the downtown hotels
