Fodor's Expert Review Singapore Art Museum
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
This art museum opened in 1996 in what was once a Catholic boys' school. It draws from some 10,000 works in the national collection to present exhibitions on contemporary Southeast Asian art. The permanent collection is rotated regularly, displaying such important pieces as the evocative Pinkswing Park installation by Agus Suwage and Davy Linggar, the 6-meter-long (20-foot-long) photorealist work Fall Leaves After Leaves Fall by Nina Garcia, or the monumental Status by Jane Lee. A museum extension, SAM at 8Q, displays a selection of multidisciplinary and interactive works.
