Fodor's Expert Review Images of Singapore
Although it's best known for its excellent war-history displays, this museum offers much more. Galleries trace the development of Singapore and depict the characters who profoundly influenced its history. Though the wax figures aren't the most lifelike, the scenes and the running narrative offer a vivid picture of 19th-century life in Singapore and a rare opportunity, in modern Singapore, to ponder the diversity of cultures that were thrust together in the pursuit of trade and fortune. Photographs, documents, and audiovisuals highlight events during the Japanese occupation and the various battles that led to their defeat. Other sections offer faithful depictions of traditional lifestyles and festivals.
