Fodor's Expert Review Goodwood Park Hotel
22 Scotts Rd., Singapore, Central Singapore, 228221, Singapore
What began in 1900 as a club for German expatriates is now a landmark hotel that's hosted the likes of the Duke of Windsor, Noël Coward, and the great ballerina Anna Pavlova, who performed here. The Parklane Suites, each with a bedroom and a living-dining room, can be rented for less than a double room in the main hotel; it's a short walk to the main hotel lobby. The elegant poolside suites have French windows that open directly onto the Balinese-style pool. Service is extremely efficient down to the smallest detail, from the nightly bed turn down to the flashlight in the vanity drawer. Restaurants—which are popular with local diners—include the Gordon Grill and Min Jiang.
