Border Crossings

Foreigners can cross into Myanmar from Thailand's three overland border crossings and can now travel freely through most of Myanmar, something that was previously restricted. As of this writing the following border points are open with Thailand (Thai border towns are in parentheses): Myawaddy (Mae Sot), Tachileik (Mae Sai), and Kawthaung (Ranong). The entry fee is $10, valid for a one-week stay in Myanmar. If you wish to stay the full month, a tourist visa will have to be arranged in advance.
