Fodor's Expert Review La Jetée

Shinjuku Bars/Pubs

It should come as no surprise that French cinema is the proprietor's big passion: a film lover's paradise, La Jetée is covered in Euro-cinema posters and was named after a French movie. It struggles to seat 10–12 customers, but that means intimate conversations—in Japanese, French, and sometimes English—usually about movies. If you want to discuss European cinema with Wim Wenders or sit toe-to-toe with Quentin Tarantino, this is your best bet. The music, naturally, comes exclusively from film sound tracks.
