Fodor's Expert Review Capsule-ryokan Kyoto

204 Tsuchihashi-cho, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto, Kyoto-fu, Japan

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

Too late for the last train home, many an exhausted businessman has checked into a capsule hotel, crawled into the capsule-shaped sleeping unit, and fallen fast asleep: Kyoto doesn't have many of these lodgings, but one entrepreneur decided that tourists might like the experience. Arranged like bunk beds, the capsules can be three-high. Each unit contains a TV, an air-ventilation unit, lights, and an alarm. Communal rooms have shared showers. Doubles have their own high-tech showers and toilets. All rooms have Wi-Fi.
