Fodor's Expert Review Ice Land Akan

Akan National Park Sports–Sight
Between January and March, Ice Land (which becomes Fishing Land May through November) occupies the southern corner of Lake Akan and is used for a variety of outdoor activities such as ice skating, Nordic skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing; activities are run by the tourist agency Koudai. There are four access points to Ice Land from around the hot spring area: one on either side of Hotel Gozensui (the access point on the western side is the dock used during fishing season), one through an outdoor passage under the New Akan Hotel, and one just to the northeast of Akan no Mori Tsuruga Resort Hanayuuka. The agency has no English-speaking staff, so your best bet is to have your hotel arrange your activities; communication shouldn’t be an issue during the activity.
