Fodor's Review

Overlooking Lake Pichola from a gallery adjoining the magnificent Durbar Hall in Fateh Prakash Palace, Suryadarshan serves high tea between 2 pm and 5 pm. There's a full tea priced at Rs. 1,200 per head—cakes and scones with jam and cream, tea or coffee, and sandwiches and french fries. If you're visiting the expensively priced Crystal Gallery above the restaurant, your Rs. 550 ticket also includes a soft drink, plain tea, or coffee at the Surya Darshan Bar. The Crystal Gallery houses the palace's early-19th-century collection of Birmingham crystal, with everything from wine decanters to beds. Suryadarshan is open daily from 10:30 to 6:30 and one can order à la carte as well. Sometimes the venue is booked for conferences, so check in advance if high tea is being served.
