If you want a central location and don't mind sacrificing quality for the sake of staying in a real palace run by the local royal family, this is just the place. Built in 1729 by Sawai Jai Singh II, the small palace has a pleasant but world-weary, run-down air, but offers extremely spacious, if modest, rooms with high ceilings and few windows. It stands amid large lawns that are perfect for evening strolls.
