Fodor's Expert Review Missionaries of Charity
Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 and beatified in 2003, Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kokata in 1950. Today the group works in 133 countries. The Charity's work for those who have contracted HIV/AIDs, leprosy, and tuberculosis, including mobile dispensaries and shelters for orphans, draws volunteers and donors through the year. The headquarters has information on the Missionaries' work and opportunities to volunteer with the various initiatives.
