Although this is essentially a business hotel, the Sonar feels like a resort, with a picturesque pond of lotuses that are set in lush landscaped gardens, and architecture inspired by that of the Pala dynasty, which once ruled Bengal. The rooms are comfortable and modern (you can even watch TV from the bath), and the service is very attentive.
