Fodor's Expert Review Varikatt Heritage

Punnen Rd., Trivandrum, Kerala, 695001, India

A 150-year-old tiled-roof colonial bungalow set in its own large garden, an oasis of calm and tradition in the heart of the city, is the location of this popular homestay run by an army colonel. Colonel K. K. Kuncheria offers rooms that come with homecooked North Indian and Keralan meals. The bungalow has a colorful history, as evidenced by the artifacts and photographs that embellish the home. Prettily furnished rooms, decked out with period furniture, also come with TVs and Wi-Fi. The bungalow, with a brown gate and brown boundary walls, is a bit hard to locate; it's at the junction of Punnen Road and the cantonment police station, as well as near St. Peter’s Church.
