Fodor's Expert Review Camp Noel

Known for its stunning views, tranquil surrounding, and warm hospitality, cozy Camp Noel is a lovely hideaway on 15 acres of grassland at 6,500 feet above sea level (nearly 1,000 feet higher than Munnar, so the temperatures's noticeably cooler). Despite the hotel's name, the rooms here are airy but snug, furnished with pine beds and tables and in pretty colonial-style, green-roofed cottages. The common dining hall serves basic fare, and there is a small general store on the grounds. Staff can arrange a host of activities, including nature walks, safaris, and trekking to plantations. The drive here on the Kodaikkanal highway from Munnar is rather pretty passing Mattuppetty and Kundala Dam.
