Fodor's Expert Review Thalassa
Rugged Vagator Beach is the seductive backdrop for Mariketty Grana's popular whitewashed Greek restaurant, which is on top of a low cliff overlooking the rocky shores of Little Vagator. Thalassa's vibrant chef re-creates authentic food from her native Corfu, including much-loved dishes like sofrito (veal, slow-cooked in white wine and herbs) and pastisada (meat with tomato sauce and spices served with macaroni). The lamb dishes, such as the moussaka, are excellent. There are options for vegetarians, too: try the hot feta cheese, the risotto, or the mushroom saganaki, made with melted cheese. They also have fairly reasonably priced rooms on offer, although they need to booked well in advance.
