Fodor's Expert Review Azzurro
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Fresh ingredients and attention to detail place the cuisine this unpretentious neighborhood spot way ahead of most of the other casual Italian eateries in town, which charge double its prices. The menu keeps it simple, and that's a good thing. Crisp, thin-crust pizzas hot from the wood-fired oven make generous use of top-shelf buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil: they're easily the best in Delhi. The main courses, which travel beyond Italian, are based on the cuisine of the "olive oil belt" in the Mediterranean. For dessert, the chocolate fondant (gooey, bubbling chocolate in a cookie shell with a dollop of fresh cream) is divine. After a visit to the nearby Qutb Minar, come for the half-price pizza at lunch and in the afternoon catch the latest Bollywood hit next door at PVR Anupam.
