Fodor's Review

Walking toward the Ruins of St. Paul's, you will likely be accosted by salespeople forcing Macanese snacks into your hands and enticing you to enter one of the street's pastelarias—pastry shops that serve traditional almond cakes, ginger candy, beef jerky, and egg rolls. Competition is fierce, but Pastelaria Koi Kei is one of the oldest and best. Hong Kong residents regularly haul the distinctive tan bags, heavy with snacks (in particular, the Portuguese custards), back home for friends and relatives. Other branches are on nearby Rua de São Paulo and on Rua do Cunha in Taipa. Cash is preferred.
