Fodor's Expert Review Otres Beach
This beach has managed to maintain the natural, peaceful vibe of a truly chilled-out beach vacation. Split into two parts, with a beautiful and empty 1½-km-long (1-mile-long) creamy-brown fine-sand beach in between, it's usually lighted at night and has a paved side path. Otres I is the busier of the two areas, with some good bars and restaurants, as well as a scattering of accommodations. Otres II is developing quickly, and the road behind the beach is now full of little hotels and bungalow resorts, but even so it is still the more laid-back and peaceful of the two, and continues to be the best beach in the area. Aside from the variety of cheap, cheerful bungalow accommodations, there are some decent little resorts like Tamu, The Secret Garden, and Otres Beach Resort. Amenities: food and drink; parking (no fee); showers; toilets; water sports. Best for: solitude; sunsets; swimming; walking.
