Fodor's Expert Review Rwakobo Rock
Near Nshara Gate, Lake Mburo National Park, Western Region, Uganda Fodor's Choice
A gem of a budget lodge, Rwakobo Rock is deservedly popular with the adventure crowd. Hearty, home-cooked fare is served up under the open thatch of their main building on the side of the eponymous rock. Simply furnished thatched cottages are tucked away in hidden corners; their interiors decorated in the black and white colours of the local Hima tribe. Recycled bottles of filtered water harvested via rainwater catchment speak to the young owner's environmental stance. A fire-pit smoulders, and hammocks dot the property; encouraging a chilled-out vibe that's hard to ignore. When not exploring Lake Mburo National Park, you can hire a mountain bike for a two-wheel safari; head out on a nature walk; or have a microadventure on the rock. The view from the top is awesome.
