Fodor's Expert Review Emerald Bay Resort
Pemba Island, Tanzania
In the valley of Chokocho Village, steps away from a natural marina, surrounded by villagers going about their daily routines, Emerald Bay Resort hugs the arch of the bay. The very simple rooms, with a stunning terrace overlooking the gardens and the water, make you to feel a part of the island life in your own quiet way. Although it is not as grand as some of the other island lodges, the price and the service make it a lovely option if you want to spend a few days immersed in Pemba village life. Trips out to Misali and Shamiani Islands to picnic and bathe on the sandbanks are the highlight of a stay here. If you want to swim in the marine park, you will have to buy a ticket, which is available from the hotel or the boat captain.
