Fodor's Expert Review Afrikaanse Taalmuseum

Paarl Museum/Gallery

It was from the Gideon Malherbe House, now the Afrikaanse Taalmuseum, that the Society of True Afrikaners launched its campaign in 1875 to gain widespread acceptance for Afrikaans, hitherto considered a sort of inferior kitchen Dutch. However, the museum may be of only limited interest to you because the displays are entirely in Afrikaans. To get here from the Paarl Museum, walk about 200 yards along Pastorie Street.
