Fodor's Review

Try to reserve a window table for views across the vine-clad valley at this restaurant atop a working winery built into the mountainside. The menu is distinctly South African but rooted in French techniques, with dishes like a Pinot Noir barrel-smoked trout with Huguenot cheese sauce or grilled line fish with Bombay potatoes and sweet curry sauce. A lot of the produce is grown on the farm or locally, and the aim is to get you to try different flavors with the wines to see which taste combinations appeal to you most. Regulars come back for the tartare, which varies from Asian venison to traditional style. You can also opt for the chef's recommended tasting menu—six delicious courses for R550, including wine. The other prix-fixe menus offer three courses for R345 or two courses for R265 or R245.
