Located in a grand old manor house, this gorgeous restaurant serves many of the usual Euro fine-dining suspects, but in a setting that is anything but predictable. A classic semicircular bar and plush lounge area meets diners upon arrival, while an upbeat but nonintrusive live band plays at the back of the room on weekends. With several dining rooms to choose from, you can select the mood, making the aptly named 5 Rooms great for groups and intimate dinners alike. All are spectacularly decorated in a grandiose, cosmopolitan style that sets the tone for a magnificent evening. Start with the crispy calamari with aioli, or oysters with grapefruit granita. For mains, expect classic meaty dishes like lamb rump with peas, mint, and ricotta, or sirloin and prawn Thermidor. Service is attentive and friendly and the food well prepared and hearty, but it's the overall experience that will have you coming back. On a summer's day it's worth coming early for a drink at the lovely outdoor Rose Bar in the garden adjacent to the restaurant.
