Fodor's Expert Review Chez Yacob
Agdz, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco
This kasbah has been renovated to retain all its traditional charm including thick pisé walls pierced with tiny windows screened with moucharabia (carved wood latticework), and a central courtyard. Wander through the heavy wooden door at midday, and its tiny central courtyard will be packed to the rafters with lunching tour groups—a big thumbs-up for the kitchen, with the added bonus that you can bring your own wine and beer. The rest of the time guests have the higgledy-piggledy corridors of Chez Yacob to themselves. Colorful Amazigh rugs add cheer, while en suite bathrooms and air-conditioning provide modern comfort. Visit the adjacent Kasbah des Caids de Mezguita while you’re here. Room prices include breakfast and dinner.
