Fodor's Expert Review Archaeological Museum

Tetouan Museum/Gallery

Off Place Al Jala, this three-room museum holds a large collection of Roman mosaics and statuettes, coins, bronzes, and pottery found at various sites in northern Morocco such as Lixus and Cotta, as well as pictures of the archaeological site of Tamuda (which resembles Stonehenge), where Anteus is fabled to have been buried after his battle with Hercules. The garden paths are rimmed with Jewish tombstones marked with pre-Columbian motifs brought back from South America and elaborate calligraphic Muslim tombstones.
