1, rue Magellan, Tangier, Tanger-Tétouan, Morocco
Made famous as the favorite hotel of the Beat Generation writers, El Muniria still offers clean and comfortable rooms, a lovely garden, and Madame Rabia, the charming proprietress. Famous guests include Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs, who wrote Naked Lunch in what was formerly Room 9. The hotel's legendary late-night bar, the Tanger Inn, still draws both locals and would-be beatniks, but gets loud at night. It's good for beat fans on a budget but not otherwise your best option for a good night's sleep. Note that reservations can only be made over the phone.
- Nice views
- away from the crowd
- On poorly lit alley
- area can get sketchy at night
