Why We Like It

This is a no-frills kind of place, so if you're a no-frills kind of person who nevertheless wants to be close to the sea, eat a great breakfast and enjoy a wonderful rooftop patio, you'll love this hotel.

Fodor's Expert Review

Located across from the beach, Maxim has simply decorated rooms, many with sea views. There's a Continental feel about the place, owing in part to the many languages heard in the lobby when guests come in after a day at the beach.

Room

With some wild design elements (Zebra-print bedspreads) and others quite standard (plain leather headboards), these rooms aren't fancy, but they do make an impression.

Tip Single travelers on a budget can save a bundle by booking an economy single room, while those who want to splash out a little can pay a bit extra to secure a double room with a guaranteed sea view.

Bathroom

The bathrooms are simple and spacious enough, with tubs and built-in hairdryers.

Lobby

Animal print pillows and simple leather couches offer a unique feel for this otherwise standard lobby.

You Should Know The Maxim is close to the beach, but guests will have to cross a major thoroughfare -- packed with traffic -- before they make it to the sand.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Dash across busy HaYarkon street to make it to Tel Aviv's smooth beachfront promenade, which is ideal for biking, walking or jogging, or head east one block to Ben Yehuda Street, where there are plenty of taxis and busilnes to take you to any point in the city.

Restaurants

For excellent Israeli street food, including falafel, shwarma and all kinds of soups, pull up a casual seat at Falafel Gabai (4-minute walk); for seafront dining and fresh flavors, you can laze away an entire afternoon on the lovely sundeck of Gordo (8-minute walk).

Bars

At Spicehaus (12-minute walk), the cocktails are creative and the decor is kooky; at Mike's Place (1-minute walk), you'll find an expat community and all the trappings of a great American sports bar.
