Archibald Harte, founder of Jerusalem's landmark YMCA, built a lakeside retreat here in the 1930s and later bequeathed his property to the Jerusalem YMCA. You can still feel his presence walking on the pebbly beach, and relaxing in the common areas decorated with antique Damascene wood panels. Spacious guest rooms, most with lake views, are furnished simply but comfortably; two have kitchenettes. The pool is fed by a natural spring, with fish swimming in the clear water. A loyal clientele responds to the quiet charm of the place, making reservations essential.
