Car Travel

By car, Route 1 is the chief route to Jerusalem. Route 443 is often quicker, although it passes through a quiet part of the West Bank and, though unlikely, you may be stopped very briefly at an Israeli army checkpoint.

In the city, walking and hailing or ordering a taxi or van as needed is a better idea than a rental car: traffic, navigation, and parking may be more than your schedule and disposition can bear.
