Fodor's Expert Review L'Aubergine

This casual, vegetarian-friendly restaurant is a rare find, with an airy Mediterranean-style ground floor and a darker, candlelit upstairs. The always-innovative menu changes daily but usually consists of a soup, a couple of salads, baked vegetable dishes, and pastas—as well as meat and seafood specials. Favorites include aubergine moussaka, crab and salmon ravioli, and chicken roulade. Downstairs can be smokey, but upstairs is better. Open until late and with a good selection of drinks, L'Aubergine makes for a fine place for a drink in Zamalek.
