Going through security may never be hassle-free, but the U.S. Transportation Security Administration took one step closer to making it easier.
At four domestic airports including Atlanta, Detroit, Dallas and Miami, a group of pre-screened frequent flyers from Delta and American Airlines were given express lane status, where they and didn’t have to take out laptops or take off shoes.
Although the TSA hasn’t announced plans to expand the program, dubbed PreCheck, other airlines hoping to improve travelers’ experience could hop on board and encourage customers to participate. While it’s unlikely that this will have a significant effect on holiday travel this year, it could potentially change things for 2012—and that would be a present worth looking forward to.
