What better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a life-size carousel made entirely out of gingerbread and sweets? Visitors of the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota, Florida will be able to view just that in the hotel’s lobby.
The carousel itself is fully functional, spinning round and around, and features five hand-painted animal figures made completely out of fondant. In order to make this gingerbread carousel a reality, the project required 300 hours of work, 180 pounds of sugar, 30 pounds of chocolate, 200 pounds of candy (including lollipops, M&Ms, peppermints, and jawbreakers), and 400 pieces of gingerbread. All in all, the entire carousel weighs about 700 pounds.
