Fashion lovers will use it as an excuse to hop a plane to the City of Light—and with good reason—as the annual winter sales, which began today in Paris, offer Americans the chance to snag their favorite brands at a discount, sans the usual anxiety that crops up while converting dollars to euros.
The sales, or soldes, happen twice a year, and last about two weeks. This year’s winter sales run through February 14, 2012, with deals up to 50% off to be had at top shops citywide, from the grand department stores along Boulevard Haussmann, such as Au Printemps and Galeries Lafayette, to chic, local boutiques in the Marais, such as Et Vous and Azzedine Alaïa. If traveling to Paris during the next few weeks isn’t an option and you still want to experience the soldes, you’ll have another shot this summer, from June 27 to July 31, 2012.
