Fit more in less space to save on baggage fees

Lay your bag flat and put folded clothes in piles down the center. If you’re packing your toiletries kit, put it at what will be the bottom of your bag when it’s standing (this should now be the heaviest item in your bag; in this position it won’t crush other items). Rolled clothes fit into the spaces around the stacked clothes. Shoes should never be empty: they’re ideal for stuffing with underwear, socks, or a travel umbrella. Nor should they travel in pairs: one by one (and wrapped, of course), they’re easily wedged into unused crannies. Socks fill in remaining holes.
